The Vision of the Aberdeen Economic & Development Corporation is to elevate the residents of Aberdeen by encouraging investment in the greater Aberdeen community.
The Commission shall achieve these charitable purposes through three core areas of focus, each designed to address the unique challenges facing Aberdeen's neighborhoods and business community.
Facilitating the rehabilitation of blighted or underutilized properties to provide essential community services and job opportunities for low-income residents.
Conducting educational programming and research into sustainable urban planning and historical preservation to benefit the general public.
We believe that building up and down across the community provides the best opportunity to achieve a better community for all our neighbors.
The Aberdeen Economic & Development Corporation (EDC) is an independent nonprofit 501c3 body established to serve the Community of Aberdeen, Maryland. Operating at the intersection of government, business, and community, the EDC works to ensure that Aberdeen's community of lovely people invests in Aberdeen's shared future.
The Commission takes a community-first approach, prioritizing initiatives that create tangible benefits for Aberdeen's residents — particularly those that have been historically underserved. By focusing on property rehabilitation, workforce development, and sustainable planning, the EDC aims to build a stronger, more resilient Aberdeen for generations to come.
The EDC's business assistance programs are deliberately targeted: support is extended only where private-sector investment alone would be insufficient to address physical or economic distress. This ensures that public resources are deployed where they can have the greatest impact on the community.
